General instructions for Tilt table test

Test to evaluate the cause of unexplained fainting when quickly changing posture.

  • Fasting: Fasting for 4 to 6 hours before the study is required. Small sips of water are allowed for authorized medication.
  • Medication: Certain medications (blood pressure, heart, dizziness) may need to be stopped or adjusted. Always consult your doctor.
  • Clothing and Accessories: Wear loose and comfortable clothes. Remove jewelry, watches, or metal objects.
  • Specific Requirements: It is strictly necessary to be accompanied, as it will not be safe to drive back after the test.
  • Expected discomfort or pain from the test: The test is painless, except for the IV prick. You might experience dizziness, nausea, palpitations, or even controlled fainting, which will disappear upon returning to a flat position.
