General instructions for 24-hour urine test
Test that collects all the urine produced in 24 hours to evaluate renal function.
- Fasting: No fasting necessary.
- Medication: Continue your usual medication (consult if you take vitamins or diuretics).
- Clothing and Accessories: No restrictions. Comfortable clothes at home.
- Specific Requirements: Use the 2-3 liter container from the lab. Day 1 (Start): Upon waking (e.g., 8:00 AM), urinate in the toilet (do not save this one). Note the time. During the 24h: Collect ALL subsequent urine in the container. Day 2 (End): At the same time (8:00 AM), urinate for the last time and add it to the container. Keep the container covered and refrigerated (fridge) throughout the process. Deliver as soon as possible after finishing.
- Expected discomfort or pain from the test: None. Only requires attention so as not to forget any urination.
