General instructions for Blood pressure Holter (ABPM)

Also known as Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring, it consists of wearing a cuff on the arm connected to a small device that will measure your blood pressure periodically for 24 hours while you go about your normal life.

  • Fasting: No fasting is necessary. You can eat and drink normally.
  • Medication: Maintain your usual treatment for blood pressure or any other condition, unless expressly instructed otherwise by your doctor.
  • Clothing and Accessories: Wearing a loose-fitting, short-sleeved shirt or blouse is highly recommended. The cuff will be placed on your arm under your clothes, so tight or narrow-sleeved garments will be uncomfortable.
  • Specific Requirements: As with the arrhythmia Holter, you should shower before coming, as you won't be able to bathe while wearing the equipment for 24 hours. During the day, whenever you feel the cuff inflating, keep your arm relaxed and straight at your side until it finishes measuring.
