- Fasting: No fasting from solids or liquids is necessary; you can eat and drink normally.
- Medication: It is essential not to take antibiotics or bismuth compounds for 4 weeks prior. Additionally, you must stop stomach protectors (like omeprazole, pantoprazole, etc.) at least 2 weeks before the test. Always consult your doctor before stopping or adjusting your usual medication.
- Clothing and Accessories: There are no specific clothing or accessory restrictions, as sample collection is done privately in the bathroom (usually at home).
- Specific Requirements: The sample should be collected in a sterile container (available at pharmacies or provided by the lab). It is very important that the stool does not mix with urine, toilet paper, or toilet water. Once collected, the sample must be delivered to the lab as soon as possible (ideally within 2 hours) or kept refrigerated (never frozen) if delivery will be delayed.
